The long journey to selecting our first Crémant brought us to a little village called Andlau in the Alsace region of France. The village has the highest percentage of winemakers per capita (30 people out of a roughly 300). Our initial Crémant is made from 100% Pinot Blanc grapes grown on a hill of brown shale bedrock, which gives the grapes their character and recognisable crispness. After six months in oak barrels, the wine is aged for a minimum of fifteen months on slats for secondary fermentation. This results in a fresh and fine Crémant with light peach and floral notes.
